Video game cutscenes

1. There are good cut scenes out there. Sometimes real life gets in the way, so I might instinctively press "start". The cut scene is prematurely interrupted, the action resumes, and I have to wonder if I missed something important.

2. At the same time, there are cutscenes that are just annoying. I should be allowed to skip cutscenes, especially if this is my third playthrough.

3. Making me watch the same cutscene over and over again is abuse. When my character dies, respawn me at the last check point. Don't make me listen to the end level boss' poorly written diatribe ten times.

EA's NCAA Football and Madden Football

I've noticed that when I import my NCAA 2010 Road to Glory player into Madden 2010, he'll start playing in the 2009 season. That happens to be the same year he started playing college football. So he is playing college football on Saturdays and pro football on Sundays for four straight years. Pretty tough fellow....

Modern Warfare 2 vs Bad Company 2

Modern Warfare 2 is more fun to play with strangers. Bad Company 2 is more fun with friends who know what they're doing. I like fighting foul mouthed adolecents just for kicks in MW2. I prefer to have a compentent gunner to keep enemies from planting C4 on the APC when I'm playing BC2. MW2 is a better test of my reflexes, BC2 requires more strategy and coordination.

Online gaming

When talking to me on the headset:
I don't care if you breathe into the mic. I don't care if I hear you yelling at your kids while we're trying to play a game. I don't care if I hear every gunshot and explosion repeated because you have your TV up too loud. I don't care if you berate the way I play, in part because I probably do suck at whatever game we're playing. I don't care if you speculate wildly about my heritage and nocturnal activities, because I've had worse said to my face.

But please don't sing. You're not good at it. Even if you were, it would still sound like crap because of the bad audio quality. Simon Cowell is more likely to award Roseanne Barr a perfect 10 than offer you a recording contract. I will mute you and report you every time.

spooky game night was a success!

thanks to everyone who attended. We had door prizes, Papa John's Pizza, & more! Dragonstorm RPG had 8 players and played until 2am! We played Betrayal at house on the hill twice. We had a Mage White Wolf RPG game scheduled, but the GM ended up having fun playing board games instead. Two people also played a D&D miniatures battle of Count Strahd Vampire Army vs Van Richten army. We are planning to run this event next year, tentatively the weekend before halloween.
